March 18th Web Tool Smackdown - SlideShare

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Ovn1nEOXk8k-09VCixyMyXcF4bEqJHofSUlehzLmiJc/edit?slide=id.p#slide=id.p SlideShare is a site where students, educators, and other professionals can upload homework assignments, projects, presentations, and other files onto to share with others. It can be useful for studying or brainstorming ideas for projects. All you have to do is search up the topic you want and choose a document that comes up. SlideShare is completely free and easy to use and the website is pretty straightforward too.  The only cons are that you cannot edit any document in the website, you can strictly just upload documents from your computer. There is also obviously not any privacy considering you are uploading your content publicly for others to see. It is also not as interactive as other newer platforms are. At the top of the screen on the website, it gives you topics you can search through and then there is also a search bar to search for something specific....

Blog #4 - Chapter 3

Image
Chapter 3 of The Connected Educator textbook talks about how teachers can further grow in their profession by becoming connected learners. It talks about how learning occurs in three different ways or settings: reading, watching videos, or coming up with new ideas. Collaborative learning means to connect with others and help solve problems and also share your knowledge. Network learning is meant to be used by the internet and connect with others outside of your workplace to also learn from them as well.  Chapter 3 also emphasizes that connected learning is best when there are goals set and teamwork with others. Schools and other places implement this to encourage people to grow and evolve to learn more. Technology helps others to learn more as well as learn from others experiences too. Learning new things online encourages people to learn together whether in person or online.  This Chapter connects to my major in Business Administration concentration in marketing because...

Social Media Etiquette Project

https://voicethread.com/myvoice/thread/30701143 For the social media etiquette project, I chose the CEO of CrossFit's insensitive and racist tweets about George Floyd's death as well as about the COVID-19 pandemic. The tweet said "It's FLOYD-19." The CEO also stated that him and his company were not mourning George Floyd's death and that he had questions as to why people were protesting. These comments are blatantly racist and insensitive to post publicly on the internet. My definition of social media etiquette is to be aware of what you say on the internet before posting it as it can come off as offensive. The CEO also mocked COVID restrictions and questioned whether they really worked or not. This is extremely offensive to healthcare workers and the millions of people who passed away due to this horrible pandemic.  I also wanted to just add my personal perspective on this, my sister is a nurse and was a nurse during the pandemic and it was a very very stress...

Bood/Bad Website Smackdown

Apple vs. Microsoft Website Smackdown I chose Apple for the good website because they make their products the focus of the home page on their website. They display their new products on the home page without any chaotic or busy backgrounds. Chaotic or busy backgrounds can be very distracting and may deter users from looking at a product or a service that a company is displaying. Having a completely plain background makes it easy to see the products and you are able to click to learn more about the product especially if it was just released. Apple also formatted their website in a way that makes it easy for users to navigate to get to where they need to go which is of course great. When learning more about Apple's products, they provide an in depth explanation of what the product does, what comes with it, and what accessories and other things you can buy for it.  For the bad website I chose Microsoft. The reason I chose Microsoft is because in my opinion, there is too much clu...

Technology blog #3 - Chapter 5

Image
In Chapter 5, it emphasizes the importance of making connections in schools. It also talks about the importance of creating a Personal Learning Network also known as a PLN. Personal Learning Networks are useful for educators to connect with their peers and mentors to share their thoughts and ideas. Different platforms like LinkedIn for example, can help educators to grow their LPN to create new connections with others that have like interests. Learning collaboratively is also a major topic talked about in Chapter 5, it encourages educators to collaborate with others to express their thoughts. It describes how Communities of Practice are also important to educators because they can share like interests and further learning.  It also talks about the importance of social media too and making important that way as well. Sustaining strong connections is important and is emphasized in order to keep strong connections, educators should keep communicating, they should also continuous...

Technology Blog 2: Chapter 6 - Building Your Connected Learning Community

Image
In Chapter 6: Building Your Connected Learning Community, it talks about the importance of implementing a learning community. For both professional and student enhancement in learning outcomes. It talks about networks in the digital world and that being a part of a learning community helps to better understand collaboration and knowledge. Educators can also collaborate with other educators on understanding these topic as well.  Learning communities can also help educators with implementing solutions to issues they may have.  Collaboration is helpful when it comes to ones ideas and concepts and sharing those with others as well. It also highlights different types of learning communities like face to face, virtual, formal, and informal communities. It also describes social media being an important part for creating connections in these communities. There are also important roles in building your community.  This pertains to my major in business because it talks about...
