Technology Blog 1: Chapter 2: Developing a Connected Learning Model & Why it Applies to my Major
In Chapter 2 of the Connected Educator, it discusses the connected learning model and how it is helpful for educators that are wanting to build connections while also implementing the use of technology into teaching as well. The chapter goes in to talking about connected learning. Connected learning is about sharing ones knowledge, building connections, engaging with peers and mentors in different platforms. It also explains the importance of being learner driven, and having personalized learning. There are three different aspects that are important in a connected learning model: local community, global network, and a bounded community.
Chapter 2 also talks about technology and it's role in today's society. Technology plays a big role in connecting others through digital platforms. It gives access to global resources, customized learning experiences. It also talks about creating connected learning experiences. It shows students to engage in inquiry, to explore, collaborate with their peers, give thought to their learning in different digital platforms, such as blogs or videos. To conclude, Chapter 2 emphasizes how important it is to establish a connected learning model to move towards technology and career based goals.
This would apply to my major in business because business is very collaborative and different platforms are used to talk about ideas for projects or collaborate on projects. Since technology also plays an important part in business, it helps to establish using different platforms like social media platforms or analytics platforms. Connected learning helps in business to connect to real world situations. Connected learning can also provide helpful tools when it comes to not having full accessibility to certain tools.

Hello Stephanie, I agree with you that technology has impacted the world of educators. I have been working with young children for over 10 years and have seen the impact firsthand. Although I am not a business major, I agree that technology has been involved in every job nationwide.
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie, I really enjoyed reading your blog post as we have the same major! I definitely agree that business is very collaborative which is why implicating these tactics can really help to allow for someone to thrive and grow in the business world.
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie, I like how you wrote about technology as a way "to connect to real-world situations." Networking online and joining online professional communities provide more of a real-world experience than reading or sitting in a classroom. Collaborating with working individuals offers insight into different aspects of your career. This no longer needs to take place in person. Most learning typically occurs when gaining experience in the field. For example, I only began feeling confident about my knowledge of psychology after my internship. Connecting with professionals online can offer similar learning to what you might get from in-person experiences. You can engage with people who work the jobs you want to work, contributing to your understanding of the field.
